New Politician Trades: $META, $CVX, & More
From $12M of sells to a Bill benefiting a new buy, we cover it here.
Van Taylor (R) TX sounding the alarm? Michael McCaul (R) TX going big on Tiktok’s biggest rival right before the bill to ban Tiktok from gov. devices was passed? The politicians are making moves and we’re here to fill you in 🤝
Michael McCaul is a Republican from Texas who has been a very busy man in the markets. In his most recent stock filings, he disclosed over 116 trades totaling $7.8M in buys and $9.2M in sells. And of course there’s one trade that caught our community’s eye: $400K bought of META 0.00%↑ . Why? Well remember this whole movement to ban Tiktok? It’s been gaining momentum in DC. Earlier this month, the house (including McCaul) passed a bill banning Tiktok from Government Devices. Guess what happened to $META? It flew.
TRADING ACTIVITY:
11/4/22 - sold ~$50K
11/8/22- bought ~$200K
11/14/22 - bought ~$200K
If an outright ban of Tiktok hits the floor, there’s no stock that will benefit MORE than META 0.00%↑. Tiktok generated over $4.6 BILLION of revenue in 2021 and the 2022 number is about to be even bigger. Just imagine the implications for META 0.00%↑ if the House does ban Tiktok in America. Remember: Google, Facebook, Instagram, and others are currently banned in China so the precedent is there to make it happen.
Van Taylor, another Republican from Texas, also has been raising some eyebrows with his recent trading. Yesterday he disclosed that he sold over $12,000,000 worth of assets in just the last month, including $10,000,000 worth of Oil stock alone. This man also happens to sit on the House Committee of Financial Services where they oversee the Federal Reserve, macro economic conditions, and more. So when politicians like him sell, we take notice for the community.
TRADING ACTIVITY:
Sold ~$250K of BMY 0.00%↑
Sold ~$1M of CVX 0.00%↑
Sold ~$5M of LLY 0.00%↑
Sold ~$5M of XOM 0.00%↑
Sold ~$250K of MCO 0.00%↑
Sold ~$15K of OXY 0.00%↑
Sold ~$250K of ZBH 0.00%↑
What’s also notable is the large sales in Oil companies. To date, these companies have vastly outperformed the market. So is he locking in profits or selling because of problems on the horizon? Nobody knows, but we’ll keep an eye.
